Value vs. Complexity & The Product Management Trap

Product managers constantly deal with the tension between valued features and how complex or costly it would be to include them. This sketchcast explores that tension and highlights a common trap that product managers often fall into.

The content of this specific post was good, but I think that this one doesn't require the sketching part itself.
Having it as an image on a textual blog post what is 1-2 pages long would have been easier for me to "consume" as a user and would have taken me half the time.
The sketching might be interesting to scenarios where the concept is a bit more complex. IT would be nice to see some example of such a thing.

Didn't find this presentation as a useful example of sketch casting. Graphs as simple as these can be imagined or quickly draw by the listener. There seemed to be too much time when nothing new was being presented on the sketch cast vs. the amount of explanation.

I see this as a great tool for a smaller subset of topics and ideas. For instance I love this tool as a way to explain what our business does in the "about us" section of our website. Our B2B model would be wordy if written but the idea would quickly become apparent through a 60 second sketch cast.

It may be true that for seasoned professionals dealing with this topic on a daily basis, the need for the sketchcasting on this topic may not be needed. But for people like myself who have been around in the industry for years but not on the "business side" this visual works well. Yes, I have seen it before, but the refresher was quite nice and before it was even finished, I had identified two opportunities where using this simple visual would be extremely helpful for myself and my clients.

As a visually oriented person, I find the sketchcast to be much more interesting then just audio or God forbid a PowerPoint presentation.

You are on to something here.

Sketchcasting is a pretty neat idea. In my case it will save a lot of restaurant napkin.
I have been communicating all my life that way. Napkins, pencils, sketches, boxes, and arrows and some great or burning ideas. Oh my, we have resolved some of the world's more pressing problems by that method. But converting into a sketchcast, now thats simply amazing.
I agree with others that not all subjects are the best suitable for sketchcast, but still I enjoyed this one.
Keep it up, and thanks a lot.
